Interfaces

dsGST uses a small set of common screens to take input and deliver output. Learn them once and every new screen you open will feel familiar.

Habits That Work Everywhere

  • Background colour shows the mode. Grey is display only. Yellow, pink and cyan mean you are adding, repeating or editing. A pink print dialog means it will print on paper. Colour guides appear on each page.
  • Nothing changes until you start an action. Data panels open locked. Press Add New or Edit to unlock them, and Save or Drop to finish.
  • Enter works like Tab on data entry forms, so you can fill a form without touching the mouse.
  • Buttons appear according to your permissions. If a button is missing or greyed out, check User Permissions before assuming something is broken.
  • Double-click opens the record. In a list, double-click opens it for editing. In a report grid, double-click opens the bill, ledger or item behind the row.
  • A small ? in the top-right corner opens help. Where a screen has a help topic, the Help Link takes you straight to its page.
  • Print is always the same dialog. Every report prints, e-mails or exports through the Print Dialog.
