Trade Types
dsGST is one program for many kinds of trade. Your Trade Type decides which fields appear on the item master and the entry screens — for example batch and expiry for pharma, serial number for appliances, or metres for cloth. Pick the type that matches your business and the screens show you what that trade needs and nothing else.
| Type | Name | What it gives you |
|---|---|---|
| MedWhl | Medical Wholesale | Batch number + expiry enforced, tracking of NRx and Schedules of items, primary schemes. |
| MedRet | Medical Retail | Retail packing (RPkg) — number of tablets/capsules per strip and sale by the tablet; prescriber and registration number; MRP as the selling price. |
| FMCGWhl | FMCG Wholesale | Batch number + expiry and schemes. |
| FMCGRet | FMCG Retail | The data an FMCG retailer needs. |
| InstSupp | Institutional Supplier | Extra information such as PO number required for institutional billing. |
| Appliance | Appliances Dealership | Wholesale / retail with Serial Number per item and a text description for each item. |
| Cloth | Cloth Trader | Wholesale / retail, selling in pieces and in metres. |
| General | General Trader | Any other business that does not need trade-specific data. |
tip
The trade type is part of how your company is set up with Data Spec. If screens in this guide show fields you do not see on your own screens (or the reverse), the trade type is the first thing to check.
