Item Search
Find an item, or alternatives to it, by name, manufacturer, type, category or description / formula, and see its stock, location and latest purchase details at a glance. It is also the search screen that opens from other places in dsGST when you need to pick an item.
Searching
Type in Search (press F3 from anywhere on the screen to jump there) and press Enter or click Item. Use * as a wildcard and a space for "anything in between". Narrow with:

| Mfr (+ Div) | Items of one manufacturer, or one division. Type in the box above the list to shorten the list of manufacturers. |
| Type, Category | Items of the same type or category. |
| Desc / Formula | Items with exactly the chosen description. Medicines are usually described by their composition, so this lists all brands of a salt. |
| Partial Desc / Formula | Items whose description starts with the text you type. |
| Anywhere | Name search matches anywhere in the name, not just at the start. |
| Desc Also | The search text is looked for in the description as well as the name. |
| Hide Unused | Hides items that never had any stock entry. |
| Only Top 200 | Limits a large result for speed. |
Click an item in the list to select it. Choosing an item shows its name, category, type and description, and the manufacturer's list, and the lists of types and descriptions move to that item's own values, so you can click Type or Desc / Formula and search for its alternatives.
The list
Each row shows the item, package, location, manufacturer, the supplier of the last purchase, current stock, and the MRP, purchase rate and trade rate from the last purchase. MRP and trade rate are shown only to users with rate permissions, and purchase rate only to the administrator.
For the selected item, the screen also shows the manufacturer's vendors and lets you note an item as short: press F8 or use the short-item panel to record that you could not supply it (see Short Items).
When another screen opens Item Search to choose an item, the Close button returns the selected item and Cancel returns nothing.
